The beginning in 2000 was in the usual garage typical of all startups, on the floor below a hairdressing salon in the historic center of the beautiful town of Barga in Tuscany.
Among the various computers, printers and the warehouse all in one room it was a game of dexterity to move every time something had to be printed or a courier arrived and it was necessary to move without overturning the shelves with the products! After all, it was a fun time, you had to be real tightrope walkers to be able to do everything without dropping half the company :-)
In 2000 , together with the technological difficulties of an industry, that of e-commerce which was in its infancy in Italy (all the site's software, both the front-end and the back-end, was developed internally) there was a need for a good dose of patience, a great ability to convince and countless trips to Milan to make the managers of all the big brands understand that both the software and all the procedures we had inserted made Planethair a reliable and safe site, as well as pleasant and professional the experience of buy on the internet.
Back then, for a professional or luxury brand, entrusting online distribution to the leading Italian site in the sector was not an easy decision!
Fortunately, our efforts were rewarded, the managers took responsibility only after long negotiations and the majority of the big brands trusted us by giving us the license to distribute their products online.
In those years it was a great achievement. Recall that Amazon itself landed in Italy only 10 years later ! (November 23, 2010).
Not long after, in fact, we moved to a 600 m2 warehouse in the nearby downstream craft centre. No more balancing act, we now had office space and a department store.
We knew that being the first in Italy to open an online store of professional hair products wouldn't be enough. Others would have looked to us and tried to do the same.
The goal right from the start was therefore to become the best site where to buy hair products online, the virtual "shop" where you can buy professional hair products from all over Italy with just a few clicks.
The image above is a copy of how the site looked in 2001, just over a year after it went online, taken from archive.org, the huge American site that has indexed all the most popular sites since the early years of the commercial Internet. important. By simply clicking on the image, you are redirected to archive.org and you can observe how the graphical interface in the first decade of our adventure reproduces exactly how our customers saw the site from a desktop or laptop computer. Then with the introduction of the iPhone by Apple and the legendary Steve Jobs, the site was completely redone, optimizing it for navigation even from smartphones and the versions captured by archive.org are not so graphically faithful to what the client saw.
The graphics and technology of the site in more than 20 years have changed many times and the offer has expanded but the basic principle has remained fundamentally the same.
We select only the best for you: the best products for every need with impeccable service: the site is reliable, secure, easily navigable, with fast delivery, easy returns, instant after-sales assistance, excellent prices without the overload of advertising costs.
In a market where hundreds of new brands and products exist and are continually being created, we now test new brands as we did 20 years ago and insert them on the site only if they meet the quality criteria and results we expect.
You don't have to choose for every need from 100 types of hair straightener or cream for your skin but as a service we do it for you, saving you time and safeguarding the future health of your skin and hair.
We have chosen not to produce our own brands, as some companies have been doing in recent years by exploiting the image of their founders on social media for a specific reason: we do not believe that the quality of a product developed with huge investments in the laboratories of a multinational which then distributes all over the world can be replaced by a proprietary brand product developed by a company with a turnover of a few tens of millions.
